My first reaction- “what the f- heck?” and :| >2
After going through it several times, and with another set of eyes, I was able to see the free association (although, of course, not understand it because it is your association) you present. Also, allowing the viewer to realize that the community is whatever you name it and the bail wire is whatever binds it, was really an illuminating process in defining literacy outside of text and my personal chronological delineations. Your project is simple (maybe not in web context, but design), yet head spinning. I’d say thank you and that it was awesome, only those would be compliments and Jason, you know how much I think your work sucks the big one- ok not really ;)

Yeah…your idea that “the community is whatever you name it and the bail wire is whatever binds it…define[s] literacy” hits close to my intentions…I’d also say that you “saw” literacy as associative was pretty “right” on as well (if I may say so as the “writer”). I didn’t expect that a reader would get an exact “right” association within the loops/bails/associates, just the sense of literacy as associative (of course one could also play with the definitions of loop/bail/associate for some intersting constructions…)…many of the images are of my own making/participation (I’m #74. I played left guard. I was a four-year varsity letterman motherfucker…) and can be associated in various ways – no “right” one even for me – to how I came to “read” the world…

    Thanks for reading and re-reading…
